Mac Haul

I love mac. I mean what's not to love. The packaging, the product and of course finishing 6 products you get a free lippy. So when my parents told me they were off to the Caribbean I gave my Mum some money and a list of the 'cheaper' mac I wanted her to pick up for me.

I asked for, 217 brush, 239 brush, Vegas volt, shy girl, creme cup lipsticks, handwritten, Charcoal brown, contrast and Electra eye shadow. And yes she came through and yes I am in love.

Top brush is the 217 and the bottom is the 239. Top right eye shadow is Electra left is Charcoal brown bottom right is Contrast and left is handwritten.

Swatches are Handwritten, Charcoal brown, Contrast and Electra.

From left is Creme cup, Shy girl and Vegas Volt.

Thank you Mum you are a super star for picking these up for me. I wore Shy girl today at work and I have to say it may just be my favourite every day shade. What is your favourite every day shade?

Night out on the town

On Friday night I headed up to Newcastle for a few drinks. I had pretty much thought all week about what to wear and thanks to Catrine at Unnakednails I decided on this outfit.

Sorry for the concentration in my face here.

I wore my trusty M&S shoes again. When I know I am going to be doing a lot of walking on a night out these are my shoes of choice. I actually have shorts on but I guess you can tell as i have my bag covering them.

And here's my face. I have OPI my private jet on you can see my swatch here. My lips I had a mixture on of my Revlon just bitten in Crush Brguin and Mac Ladybug on top.

Hope you had a good weekend too. Roll on the next one as I can feel this is going to be a long week at work.

Date night

Today is my birthday I'm turning 22. I know that this isn't old at all but it only feels like a few weeks ago I turned 21. I'm going out for lunch and dinner today so I'll most likely be 22 stone by the end of the weekend but that's what birthdays are all about.

Anyway onto the title of the post. Date night. I had a first date on Thursday and I didn't really know what to wear (turns out I got it wrong) I was told we were going to Newcastle but I actually ended up going ice skating before going for dinner. I put on my twitter that I wanted to go. This was really sweet but I wore heels. I must be the only girl to ever do this. He was prepared with socks, gloves and a scarf for me which was really cute. I should probably also say that I can not ice skate to save my life. It seemed my legs weren't doing what my brain was telling them.

Here's what I wore.

Sorry for the phone in the mirror I had no one else to take my picture so the spare room mirror had to do.

At this point I would like to state that if any of you are going ice skating don't wear heels.

After reading Kayleigh's (Couture Girl) post on Mac Girl about Town lipstick I decided that was what I would go for. You can see my swatch here.

I had a really good night after I got my glass of wine to forget about my shocking performance on the ice. Hope you have a good weekend.

Mac Eye shadow Knight Divine

I picked this up in Covert Garden in May. I bought I'd try and teach myself how to do a dark smoky eye. However I just like I have a black eye so I need to practice more.

It's a beautiful grey colour that has the silver pearl touch. I have about 6 mac eye shadows and recently I've been lusting after a pallet but I have too many individual eye shadows to do that just yet.

It's such a pretty colour and just looking at this swatch makes me wish I could apply it properly.

Do you have any tips on how I could apply this to create the perfect smoky eye?

Mac Lipstick Girl about Town

I love the name of this lipstick as it reminds me of Carrie Bradshaw running around New York city? She was the ultimate IT girl. I bought this in St Maarten a Caribbean island in March. This Island by the way is the place to shop. It was amazing I bought some amazing things. These were all my shopping bags from my trip.

The lipstick. I bought this in the Mac shop that literally was on the beach.

This was taken about 10 yards from the shop. How white is the sand and how blue is the sea? Ahhh i just love this Island. So onto Girl about Town.

This colour is amplified and boy ohh boy is it.

It is a beautiful deep pink colour verging on purple. It's so creamy and very easy to apply and the lasting time on this lipstick is amazing. I think it is the kind of colour that any skin tone could wear.

Do you have this shade?

Mac Lipstick Costa Chic

Let me start of by telling you how much I love this shade.....a lot. Catrine from Unnakednails recommended this to me before I went on my holidays in July. Trust me when I say this she knows her lipsticks and this was the perfect shade for me. So off I went to Mac to give it a swatch and I fell in love with it.

It's the perfect summer coral shade. I wore it almost every day/night of my holiday. It's a frost finish however it's not extremely frosty like Angle is.  It has the perfect bit of shimmer through it and looks amazing with a tan.

Overall this was £14 well spent and I am so happy I picked this up. I only wish Summer wasn't over so I can carry on wearing it. Do you own this shade?

MAC Lipstick Angel

I love mac lipsticks and I have a fair few in my collection. When I buy a new one I stand over the counter and see which one catches my eye swatch it and then buy it. I very rarely go in and ask for one I've heard about.

I picked up Angel in Malaga airport duty free. This has been my everyday lipstick since I got home. It's a really pretty pink colour. It's very moisturising which I completely love. It has very subtle lilac undertone in it.

It is a frosted finish and you can really see in the swatch. I would wear it on a night out if I had really heavy smokey eye. I find it lasts really well too providing you're not drinking. I drink and awful lot of water at work and it does come off onto the cup so as long as you're not drinking it's great.

What is your every day lipstick?

August Favourites

I LOVE reading favourites posts I'm a bit of a nosey person and like to see what everyone has been loving. So here's what I haven't been able to put down.

Urban Decay all nighter. This is amazing. I couldn't not use it now. I have no idea what's in it or how it works. But I put my make up on at 6am and by 6pm it's still there. I mean I don't look like I've just applied it. I spend a lot of time on the phone at work and before I used this one cheek of make up would be on my phone. People used to say 'Katie's been on this phone it's covered in Make up' this stuff stops that from happening!

Elemis Cleansing gel. My Mum gave me this and it's the best thing I've used! I use it to take off all my make up off on a night. You apply it to dry skin with dry hands and it applies like a gel and then use damp hands to rub off and it turns into milk.

Umberto Glannini Overnight Beauty mositure balm. My hair was feeling a little dry at the start of the July so I picked this up. I use it about twice a week before I go to bed. You put it on dry hair and it really does leave your hair feeling silky soft.

Mac Mornage Lipstick. I bought this in Malaga airport at the start of the month. I have it on every weekend. I love this colour. My only regret is not buying it sooner. It's such a fabulous colour very summery and dare I say an Autumn one? Well I'm still going to be wearing it.

How great is this colour. So here you have it my August. What are yours? I can't believe how quickly this year is going by. I've already started my Christmas shopping.

Shopping

Today is my Gran's birthday....Happy Birthday Gran!! So my main aim last night was to get my Gran a present. Which I did I got her some hotel chocolates. After years of getting her a M&S voucher I thought I change it up a bit.

So of course I couldn't go all the way to the metro and not pick me something up could I?
The metro is a massive shopping centre in Gateshead. It was the biggest in Europe at one point but I'm sure it has lost that title now.

Anyway here is what I picked up.

Lush Bubblegum lip scrub. I said in my lust list that I wanted this as my lips were dry. Although they are ok now I thought why not pick this up and give it ago anyway. I'm all about prevention.

Mac Prep and Prime. I went into boots to buy the Smashbox photo finish primer. However when I got there no one was there to advise me and there were about 8 different ones. At £25 a pop I didn't want to get the wrong one. So I went back to my old faithful. I used to use this a few years ago but went off it. Can't remember for the life of me why.

Lush Tea Tree Water. I love a good toner and love the fact Lush don't test on animals so I'm looking forward to trying this one out.

Topshop Lipstick in Coy. This is my first Topshop make up product. I'm super excited to start using it. I thought I would get this to wear at work as it was only £7. It's fairly nude with a slight hint of peach.

Mac Pro long Lip liner in what a blast. This is to go with my Morange lipstick as I felt it could do with one so I thought why not.

I actually wanted to get some clothes tonight but no where seemed to have anything I liked at all. Does anyone else find that when you are looking for something there is nothing but when you aren't you seemed to find everything? Or is that just me?

How much does my face cost?

Ever since I saw this on Jen's blog I've wanted to know, how much exactly does my face cost?

This is my work face. I work in an office where nothing exciting ever happens and I'm sure if I went in with purple hair no one in the office would even notice so I put my make up on for me. I feel it gives my more confidence.

So here you have my face. Every morning I wash, cleanse, tone and apply moisturiser. This is essential for my base. So lets work out how much it cost me for my confidence.

Benefit POREfessional £23.50
Mac Pro longwear Foundation in NW25 £24.00
Mac Select Cover up £14.50
Mac Mineralize Skin finish in Medium £21.00
Miners Cosmetics Bronzer and Blusher blend £4.99
Sleek blush Rose Gold £4.49
Mac Paint pot in Bare study £14.50
Mac Fluidline in Blacktrack £14.00
Benefit They're real £18.50
Benefit Brow Zing in Medium £22.50
Carmex Cherry Tube £2.69
Mac Lipstick Angel £14
Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray £23

£201.67

I got my Benefit brown zing with my boots points and I got the bronzer and blusher in my She said beauty box. But still WOW. I am shocked. That's not including my brushes that are mostly Mac. I do change my make up in the winter so it will be interesting too see how much my winter face costs.

It's expensive being a girl. But I love it.  How much does your face cost?

(I'm sorry for the bad quality of my picture I am going to buy myself a new camera if anyone has any advice on which one to buy please let me know as I am hopeless thank you)
